Meadowscape Firehouse
Serving the community while connecting with nature
Mission
To create an efficient and safe firehouse that serves the Secaucus community while highlighting and being conscious of the surrounding landscape.
Vision
The architect wanted to create a quiet, yet contrasting volume to the site through its rectilinear design, the choice of sustainable yet visually and texturally rich materials such as rammed earth, and the orientation that frames the cityscape, landscape, and meadowscape.
Execution
The Meadowscape Firehouse design achieves a connection to the meadowlands located directly next to it, the surrounding community, and the New York cityscape located towards the East. The architect achieves the framing of views of this landscape through the orientation of the building and the placement of programming resulting in an efficient, safe, yet architecturally challenging firehouse.
