Mission

For the final project in Michael Graves College's first semester of the Public Architecture major, students were asked to design a concept for an outdoor theater that would present a film festival of our chosen genre. Nature documentaries were the main inspiration for the architect which resulted in a design that incorporates topography into the structure of the building itself.

Vision

When creating this design Kamila researched multiple documentaries, travel videos, photography, and even different types of maps. Topographic maps were the main inspiration for this design with the purpose of projecting the flow of nature and creativity throughout the site.

Execution

The site consists of three theaters each representing a different biome. This is also represented through the roof with various openings that complements each of the theaters. The main theater contains the main entrance where passerby can see what's going on inside, the second theater is more private with the purpose of hosting smaller screenings, and, lastly, the third theater includes a stage for performances by any and all types of artists alike.
